Soil Testing
Soil pH
Testing the soil pH to determine the lime requirement has long held a reputation for being unreliable and hap-hazard. All farmers will know that soils can vary dramatically even within a single field. Some areas may benefit from a large dose of lime, other areas may need less or none at all. Applying lime to areas of the field which do not need it wastes money, time and fuel and creates an unnecessary additional pass over the field with large machinery. Our free soil mapping service combines the test-tube method of sampling - tried, trusted and low cost - with the latest GPS soil mapping software to generate accurate application plans. These can be processed by our GPS enabled Variable Rate spreaders to place the right amount of lime in the right places saving the customer money.
Other sampling
Other samples can be collected whilst we are sampling for pH or on a separate occasion, to be analysed for a wide range of nutrients and contaminants. The most common is the standard pH, P, K, and Mg test.
